We love our community!  Our outreach efforts are detailed here wit

ANNA CARES – Community and Resources, Education & Services.

School Visits:

This great program is multifaceted for all ages with programs from Pre-K to College students. Representatives from the shelter (both two and four legged) visit the school for a fun filled educational talk on the shelter’s purpose and mission; animal safety and being kind to animals.  Activity books are provided as well as interactive time with the animals and staff.  This program also works well with our fundraising/needs effort.

Senior & Hospital Visits:

Members of our staff and those pets that pass our good citizen test visit local nursing homes or hospice patients for some great pet therapy.  This program is very rewarding for both the animals and the residents – and  our staff!

Food Pantry:

We have a food bank for those pet owners that may need some help providing their beloved pets food when times get tough.  Because we are so blessed with generous donations to feed the animals in our care we are able to help out those members of our community that may need us.  Food bank is limited to the amount of food available at any given time. This is in conjunction with the Erie Animal Network!

Pets for Vets:

We are an official chapter of the National Pets for Vets Program as well as hosting our own program providing pets for veterans along with PA State Representative Ryan Bizzarro.

We have two trained Humane Police Officers, Officer Eric Duckett and Officer Stevie Hargenrater sworn in both Erie and Crawford Counties to thoroughly investigate and, if possible prosecute, offenders to the fullest extent of the law regarding any crime committed against animals.  They assist the Pennsylvania State Police on a regular basis all across our Commonwealth wherever there is animal in need.   Animal rescue knows no boundaries.
